I spent the weekend of March30-April 1 at the Big O birding festival. It was based in Moore Haven Florida 0n the west shore of Lake Okeechobee, the second biggest fresh water lake in the US - hence Big 'O.'
Went visited a variety of sites including Dinner Island, Fish Eating Creek, and Storm Water Treatment Area 5. I saw a lot of interesting birds and learned much - I am still very much a novice at bird identification. On Sunday afternoon I went down to Corkscrew swamp and got some pictures reflecting the drying up of the lettuce lakes.
